Big Macs improve to 3-1 in Section 4-AAA

Alex Hammers had 12 points as Canon-McMillan pulled away from Moon for a 52-43 Section 4-AAAA victory Wednesday night in a boys high school basketball game.
Costa Karanikos and Sam Bohn had 10 points each for the Big Macs (3-1, 7-4), who led just 33-30 entering the fourth quarter.
Tyler Crenshaw led Moon (2-3, 4-7) with 14 points.
Frazier 66, Carmichaels 52: Carmichaels’s undefeated season has come to an end. Charles Manack scored 18 points to lead Frazier to a 66-52 win over the Mikes in a non-section matchup.
Manack scored 20 points to lead the Commodores (6-4) to the upset at home.
While Brandon Lawless scored 19 points for Carmichaels (9-1), the Mikes could not overcome a 28-22 halftime deficit.
Tyler Kennedy added 15 points for Frazier.
South Fayette 61, McGuffey 28: Jack Relihan had 20 points as South Fayette cruised to a 61-28 Section 5-AAA win over McGuffey.
The Lions (4-0, 7-1), led 29-15 at the half and 50-19 after three quarters.
McGuffey falls to 0-4, 2-10.
Western Beaver 69, Burgettstown 39: Nick Miller had 25 points as Western Beaver topped Burgettstown, 69-39, in a non-section game.
John Petrosky added 19 points for Western Beaver (9-1).
Cole LaRocka had 19 points for Burgettstown (2-8).
Jefferson Morgan 65, Bentworth 49: Rece Henneman scored 17 points to lead Jefferson Morgan to a 65-49 win over Benworth in Section 5-AA.
Jefferson-Morgan led 30-17 at halftime, before piling on 26 points in the third quarter. Chad Mattish added 11 points for the Rockets (2-3, 5-7). Bentworth was led in scoring by Damon Petrola-Bakos’s 18 points and Angelo Rios-Lopez added 16 points for the Bearcats (1-4, 1-9).
Upper St. Clair 59, Peters Township 45: Three players scored in double figures to lead Upper St. Clair to a 59-45 win over Peters Township in a Section 4-AAA matchup.
Thomas Steve led the Panthers (4-0, 8-3) with 13 points, Conner Gallagher chipped in 10 and Will Ross had 11 points. Peters Township (2-3, 5-6) was led by JC Brush’s 14 points.
Upper St. Clair 63, Canon-McMillan 61: Madison Serio had one of Upper St. Clair’s nine three-pointers with 35 seconds remaining to give the Panthers the lead in a 63-61 Section 4-AAAA high school girls basketball game against Canon-McMillan.
DiAndra Conwell had 15 points, Rachel Mazzie 13 and Serio and Peyton Beyer 10 each for Upper St. Clair (3-1, 8-1).
Danielle Parker had 25 points and Olivia Lorusso added 20 for the Big Macs (1-3, 5-7).
Frazier 31, Carmichaels 29: Lauren Timko had 10 points as Frazier held off Carmichaels, 31-29, in a non-section game.
A 10-4 run in the second quarter helped Frazier (7-3) to the win.
Caroline Cree led Carmichaels (2-8) with 11 points.
Burgettstown 54, Western Beaver 27: Two players scored in double digits to lead Burgettstown to a 54-27 win over Western Beaver in a non-section win.
Katie Tarr led the Blue Devils (2-7) with 15 points and Sam Scopel added 12.
Avella 60, Jefferson Morgan 21: Kenna Drazich scored 13 points to lead Avella to a 60-21 victory over Jefferson Morgan in a Section 3-A matchup.
Laura Craig added 10 points for the Eagles (1-0, 6-3). Avella led 29-12 at halftime before outscoring Jefferson Morgan 31-9 In the second half.
Washington 53, South Side Beaver 45: Two players eclipsed the 20-point mark to lead Washington over South Side Beaver, 53-45, in a Section 5-AA matchup.
India March led the Prexies (4-0, 7-2) with 25 points and Mikala Maltony added 20 points. The Prexies held a 37-36 lead after the third quarter before Wash High scored 16 points in the final eight minutes to clinch the section win.
Cheyenne Siek led South Side Beaver (2-2, 4-7) with 14 points.
West Greene 49, Mapletown 20: Madison Raber scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds to help West Greene down Mapletown i49-20 in a Section 3-a game.
Alyssa Raber added 13 points for the Pioneers (1-0, 6-2).
Rachael Buchton scored six points for the Maples (0-1, 1-8).
