California pieced together identical halves, in which the Vulcans scored 39 in both, to get past Seton Hill, 78-70, in a PSAC West Division game at the Convocation Center.

Cal raised its record to 11-6, 5-3 in the conference. Seton Hill stumbled to 11-7 and 3-5 in the PSAC.

Irina Kukolj scored 19 points for the Vulcans and had three of the nine three-point field goals. Emma Mahady had 14 points, eight rebounds and three steals and Ashley Hines had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She also had four steals for Cal, which never trailed in the second half.

Katie Gattuso scored a game-high 25 points for Seton Hill and Paige Alvarini had 15 points and six assists.

Wash & Jeff 79, Westminster 76: Chelsea Apke scored a game-high 22 points, including a pivotal field goal with 14 seconds remaining, and Washington & Jefferson held off a late rally by Westminster, 79-76, in a PAC game at Henry Memorial Center.

The win was the fifth in a row for W&J (7-3, 12-5) and keeps the Presidents tied for third place in the PAC with Waynesburg.

W&J led 42-28 at halftime and 67-54 with 6:02 remaining before Westminster (6-4, 9-8) started its comeback. The Titans pulled to within 74-73 after two free throws by Hannah Shaffer with 42 seconds left. Apke, however, made a jump shot to make it 76-73 and the Titans missed a two-pointer with four seconds left.

Beka Bellhy scored 13 points for W&J and Kara Seamon had 10 points and six assists.

Shaffer and Courtney Zitt each scored 18 points to pace Westminster. Shaffer also had a game-high 11 rebounds.

Waynesburg 62, Bethany 40: Heather Davis came off the bench to score 11 points and grab eight rebounds to help Waynesburg rout Bethany, 62-40, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.

The win pushed Waynesburg to 9-8, including 7-3 in the conference. Host Bethany fell to 4-13, 3-7 in the conference.

Elaine Hasek had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Yellow Jackets, who held Bethany to 15 first-half point while building an 11-point lead.

Heather Delaney had seven points, three steals, a block and two rebounds in 15 minutes. Hayden Giuliani had eight points and seven rebounds.

Waynesburg outrebounded Bethany 52-38 and held the Bison to just 24 percent shooting form the field (14 of 57).

Bethany 79, Waynesburg 67: Bethany unleashed a torrent of three-point field goals, making half of the 24 attempted, to power past Waynesburg, 79-67, in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game.

The host Bison moved to 14-4, including 7-2 in the PAC, while Waynesburg fell to 8-10 and 3-6 in the conference.

Bethany, which led 41-28 at halftime, had four players knock in three three-point field goals: Lawrence Weldon, Tyrone Smothers, Leslie Addy and Kevin Jackson. All four, and Delonte Joyce, were in double figures. Addy led the way with a double-double: 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jackson and Weldon had 16 apiece, Joyce added 13 and Smothers 11.

The Yellow Jackets managed just six of 19 three-point attempts but shot 46 percent (23 of 50) for the game. Bethany shot 44 (27 of 62).

Thomas Ellis had a team-high 15 points, and Kenny Klase and Byron Louco scored 10 apiece.

Seton Hill 56, California 46: Seton Hill had a torrid game shooting the basketball, in stark contrast the misfiring California team, and came away with a 56-46 victory in a PSAC West game at the Convocation Center.

The win moved Seton Hill to 11-6, including 3-4 in the conference. Cal fell to 8-9, 3-4 in the conference.

Seton Hill hit half of its 42 shots with Max Kenyi and Malachi Leonard went a combined 11-for-19. Kenyi finished with 18 points and Leonard added 12 points.

Cal manaaged to make just 12 of 42 attempts for 28 percent and made just one three-point try. Tyrone Fortune led Cal with 11 points.
