ROCKFORD, Ill. – William Beckwith hit a pair of run-scoring hits and Alex Kaminsky pitched 6 2/3 strong innings Friday night as the Wild Things defeated the host Rockford Aviators, 3-1.

The win was Washington’s fourth in a row and 14th in the last 17 games.

Kaminsky gave up four hits and one unearned run but did not get a decision as Rockford tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the seventh.

The Wild Things did not even need a hit to regain the lead in the eighth.

Rockford relief pitcher David Wayne Russo walked three Washington batters to load the bases before he was relieved by Logan Odom, who hit Daniel Poma to force in the go-ahead run.

Beckwith added his second RBI of the game in the ninth inning.

Washington reliever Pat Butler (1-0) pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Jonathan Kountis pitched the ninth inning for his league-leading eighth save.

The Wild Things took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning when Stewart Ijames drew a leadoff walk and Carter Bell followed with a single before Beckwith hit an RBI-double.
