Baseball: Cal rallies, completes weekend sweep of Lake Erie

California University rallied for three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning defeat Lake Erie 3-2 Sunday and complete a doubleheader sweep at Consol Energy Park.
Cal won the opening game, 4-1.
The Vulcans improved to 8-5 with a sweep of the four-game home series against the Storm (6-7). Cal pitchers limited Lake Erie to four runs in 28 innings.
Cal trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh of the series finale, Blake Henderson and Chuck Gasti hit one-out singles and Joe Yourgal drew a two-out walk to load the bases. Senior center fielder Ben Carson reached base on a throwing error that allowed two runs to score and tie the game. Senior first baseman Derrik Zeroski then beat out an infield single to shortstop, allowing pinch-runner Andre Jones to score the winning run.
Cal starting pitcher GJ Senchak threw a complete game, allowing only five hits and striking out six.
In the opening game, Cal’s Mick Fennell and Giovanni Morales each had two hits, a run scored and one RBI to back the pitching of Justin Taylor, who improved his record to 3-1 with a complete game. Taylor allowed five hits and struck out five.
