The No. 25-ranked Washington & Jefferson College baseball team rallied to defeat Babson 5-4, but SUNY-Brockport turned the tables on the Presidents later Monday afternoon for a 9-7 victory at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.

The Presidents (6-3) trailed 4-2 heading to the top of the seventh inning against Babson, but struck for three runs. Josh Staniscia and Kyle McLain produced RBI-singles, the latter giving W&J the lead.

McLain later came on in relief of winning pitcher Nick Kolat and earned his fourth save by getting the game’s final two outs on a line-drive double play to second baseman Anthony Paladino.

In the loss to SUNY-Brockport, D.J. Michalski doubled home Nick Vento for one of W&J’s three runs in the third inning that staked the Presidents to a 3-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles (6-2) struck for five runs in the fourth and one more in the seventh for a 6-3 lead. However, as the rain started to fall, W&J rallied with four runs in the eighth to take a 7-6 advantage. Staniscia’s bases-loaded triple tied the score and he scored on an infield single by Kyle Smith.

SUNY-Brockport scored three runs after two outs in the top of the ninth, aided by two W&J errors.

Staniscia had two hits, four RBI and a stolen base. He extended his hitting streak to nine games.
