Softball: Beth-Center stuns McGuffey in 2-AA opener

Auumn Trippy hit a two-run game-winning single in the top of the eighth inning and Amy Gustovich allowed just three hits as Beth-Center defeated McGuffey, 3-0, Monday in a Section 2-AA matchup.

Gustavich was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs (1-0, 1-0), striking out six batters. Losing pitcher Cassie Weiss was the losing pitcher despite finishing with 11 strikeouts for the Highlanders (0-1, 3-1).

• Camryn Dugan homered and hit a triple to lead Jefferson-Morgan to a 7-5 victory over Serra Catholic in Section 2-A.

Maddie Ludroksy was the winning pitcher for the Rockets (1-0, 2-0).

• Delaney Elling went 4-for-4 and knocked in five runs to power Trinity to a 10-2 victory over Montour in Section 2-AAA.

Hali Justice had a double and triple and drove in two for the Hillers (1-0, 2-0). Stephanie Seibert had two doubles for Montour (0-1, 1-3).
