Softball: Beth-Center rallies for big win against C-H

Londyn Brown singled in pinch-runner Madison Darney with two outs in the eighth inning to give Beth-Center a thrilling 8-7 victory over Chartiers-Houston in a Section 2-AA game Thursday.

Beth-Center (5-4, 5-7) trailed 7-3 in the seventh but scored four times to tie the game. Ebony Douglas had a two-run double and Torin Fisher, who was 3-for-4, drove in Douglas with the tying tun. Abby Gustovich had a great game, going 4-for-4 with four doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. She also drove in the first run of the seventh inning with one of her doubles. Victoria White added a double.

Megan Kraushaar had an inside-the-park home run, Haley Sutton tripled and Kassie Kesneck doubled for the Bucs (6-4, 8-6).

• Bailey Bennington struck out 11 and allowed two hits over five innings in West Greene’s 15-1 victory over Mapletown in a Section 2-A game.

Bennington tripled, went 3-for-4, scored four times and drove in two runs for the Pioneers (6-6, 7-9). Autumn Widdup and Alyssa Raber each hit a double. Raber went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a run.

Jordan Adams had an RBI-double for the Maples (2-10, 2-11).

• Maddie Ludrosky struck out 14 batters and tossed a two-hitter to lead Jefferson-Morgan past Monessen 5-0 in a Section 2-A game.

Jess Taylor had a double and Morgan Simkovic two hits for the Rockets (10-2, 13-2).

Monessen fell to 6-9, including 4-8 in the section.
