College baseball: Waynesburg earns PAC berth

Waynesburg University clinched a spot in the Presdients’ Athletic Conference baseball tournament with a doubleheader sweep of Westminster Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets combined for 32 run in winning both games, the first 15-0 and the second 17-4.

Waynesburg is 13-11 in the conference and trails Bethany by one-half game. The Bison play Thomas More today. The top four teams from the conference make the playoffs. A win by Thomas More makes Waynesburg the No. 3 team. A win by Bethany makes Waynesburg No. 4.

Every player in Waynesburg’s lineup had a hit in Game 1. Eric Crum went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Clay Roman had two hits and drove in three.

In Game 2, Ben Shorthouse went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and Roman had four hits and two RBI. Neal Yakopin drove in three runs.
