W&J women’s softball team draws top-seeded Trine

The women’s softball team at Washington & Jefferson College will play top-seeded and host Trine in the NCAA Division III softball tournament in Angola, Ind., at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
The tournament runs through Sunday.
The Presidents are 25-10 and Trine 37-3.
Ohio Athletic Conference champion Muskingum and North Coast Athletic Conference champion DePauw will meet in the other first-round game (1 p.m.).
The winners meet Saturday at 11 a.m. and the losing teams play in the first elimination game at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Trine (37-3) is ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III top 25 poll. The Thunder won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season and tournament titles.
Washington & Jefferson is making its first appearance in the NCAA Division III tournament after winning the Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship as the No. 3 seed Friday at Thomas More College. Thomas More earned an at-large bid to the national tournament and will play in the University of Chicago Regional against the host Maroons.
