The PIAA soccer playoffs begin Tuesday night for the Peters Township boys and Canon-McMillan girls, and the Indians and Big Macs have drawn the same opponent, State College.

Peters Township (18-2), which won the WPIAL Class AAA championship Friday night with a 5-1 thumping of previously undefeated Upper St. Clair, will play State College (12-2-7-2) at Elizabeth Forward High School. The match will start at 8 p.m. The Little Lions (12-7-2) won their fourth straight District 6 title by thumping Hollidaysburg, 10-2. State College is 7-0-2 in its last nine games.

A Peters Township win sends the Indians to the state quarterfinals Saturday against either Erie Prep or Pittsburgh Central Catholic.

Canon-McMillan (16-4-1), the WPIAL runner-up, will travel to Bald Eagle Area High School in Wingate to play State College in a girls Class AAA first-round match that is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. State College won a play-in game Saturday, scoring four second-half goals to defeat Erie McDowell, 4-0. The Lady Little Lions (13-6-1) won the District 6 title with a 2-1 win over Hollidaysburg.

The State College girls hosted Peters Township in the regular-season finale Oct. 15 and played the Indians to a 4-4 tie.

The Canon-Mac-State College winner will play either Spring-Ford or Cumberland Valley in the quarterfinals.
