The three local teams remaining in the WPIAL football playoffs can now plan their road trips for the quarterfinals, which will be played Friday night.

Sites for the games were announced by the WPIAL Monday morning. Each quarterfinal will kick off at 7:30 p.m.

Washington (10-0), which defeated Steel Valley, 34-7, in the first round, will face sixth-seeded Apollo-Ridge (9-1) at Latrobe High School’s Rossi Field. Apollo-Ridge, which finished second in the Allegheny Conference, defeated Beaver Falls, 58-40, to advance to the quarterfinals and are led by senior wide receiver Tre Tipton, a Pitt recruit.

A Washington win would send the Prexies to the semifinals against either Aliquippa or Mt. Pleasant.

Defending PIAA and WPIAL Class AA champion South Fayette (10-0) rolled past Waynesburg last week to set up a rematch with Century Conference rival South Park (8-2) at Peters Township High School. The Lions, who have a 26-game winning streak, defeated the Eagles, 59-20, Oct. 12. The South Fayette-South Park winner will play either Highlands or Seton-La Salle in the semifinals.

Fifth-seeded Ringgold (9-1) completed a thrilling victory over Gateway in Class AAA last week behind the play of senior quarterback and defensive back Nico Law. The win sets up a quarterfinal game at West Allegheny High School against No. 4 seed Hampton (9-1). The winner plays either top-seeded Central Valley or No. 8 Indiana.
