Sophomore forward Sabrina Bryan scored four goals Tuesday night as Canon-McMillan bounced back from a loss in the WPIAL championship game last weekend with an impressive 7-0 pasting of State College in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA girl soccer tournament at Bald Eagle Area High School in Wingate.

Canon-McMillan (17-4-1) was in control of the match throughout, forging a 4-0 halftime lead. Bryan scored two goals in each half.

Bryan scored her first goal only 13:18 into the match, and Abby Gillespie made it 2-0 by scoring on a header off a corner kick with nine minutes left in the first half. Bryan tallied her second goal to make it 3-0, and Allie Thomas followed with a goal with 3:27 to play before halftime.

Lauren Hess scored on a header 3:50 into the second half to push the Big Macs’ lead to 5-0. Bryan then completed a hat trick with her third goal and tacked on her fourth with 9:18 remaining.

C-M goalkepper Kyra Murphy had to make only one save against the Lady Little Lions (13-7-1), the District 6 champions.

“It was nice to see the kids bounce back after the WPIAL championship game,” C-M coach Dave Derrico said.

In the quarterfinals Saturday, the Big Macs will play Spring-Ford, a 3-2 winner in penalty kicks over Cumberland Valley.
