Cal rolls in home opener

CALIFORNIA – Senior Arman Marks came off the bench to score 17 points and lead five California University players in double figures with 17 points as the Vulcans’ men’s basketball team cruised to an 89-64 victory over Penn State-Fayette Monday in the home opener at the Convocation Center.
Cal improved its record to 2-1 heading into the PSAC West Division opener Wednesday night at home against Mercyhurst.
Marks made six of nine shots from the field, including three of four from three-point range. He also shared the team lead with seven rebounds and had two steals.
Freshman Tony Richardson scored 14 points off the bench, and junior transfer Richard Smith had 13 points, seven rebound and three blocked shots. Drew Cook, with 12 points, and Jake Jacubec, with 11, rounded out Cal’s double-figure scorers. Junior transfer Khalil Jabbie was credited with 11 assists.
Cal led 37-29 at halftime over PS-Fayette, which lost a two-point game last week to Point Park. The Vulcans pulled away with a 14-2 over a five-minute stretch in the second half to forge a 57-38 lead.
Matt McKenna scored a game-high 23 points for Penn State-Fayette (2-2).
