W&J’s Sirianni named PAC Coach of Year
Mike Sirianni, who guided Washington & Jefferson College to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference football championship and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs, was named Monday the PAC Coach of the Year.
It is the sixth time in 12 seasons that Sirianni has been named the league’s top coach.
The conference also released its all-league teams and players of the year.
For the third time, Offensive Player of the Year honors went to Thomas More senior running back Domonique Hayden. He led NCAA Division III in rushing touchdowns (25), was second in points scored per game (16.7), third in rushing yards per game (158.4) and sixth in rushing yards (1,426).
The PAC Defensive Player of the Year is Bethany junior tackle Nadim Raddar, who second in Division III in sacks (12.5) and sacks per game (1.25), tied for sixth in total tackles for loss (20) and tied for 14th in tackles for loss per game (2.0).
Thiel freshman wide receiver Marcus Johnson was selected as the Newcomer of the Year. His 827 receiving yards ranked third in the league, and his eight touchdown receptions tied for fifth.
Waynesburg won the PAC’s Sportsmanship Award.
W&J led all teams with 18 players receiving mention on the all-conference squads.
A pair of seniors, linebacker Jared Pratt and center John Wanner, led the Presidents’ first-team selections and were joined by four juniors, left tackle Zack Cropssey, linebacker/safety Bryce Merrill, running back Ryan Ruffing and defensive end Jon Tuner. Pratt and Crossey are repeat selections on the first team. Ruffing leads the PAC and ranks fourth in the nation with 1,505 rushing yards rushing, making him just the third President to ever eclipse 1,500 yards in a season. He also leads the nation in scoring at 16.8 points per game with his 28 touchdowns (24 rushing).
W&J’s second-team selections were senior cornerback Alec Schram, junior tight end Michael Giampole, wide receiver Daniel Lis, quarterback Pete Coughlin, right tackle Brandon Martuccio, defensive tackle Ryan Snedeker and wide receiver Jesse Zubik.
Five Presidents earned honorable mention status: senior wide receiver Max Creighton, right guard Joe Graziani, safety Dan Graziano, safety Billy Kelley and linebacker Ryan Torrance.
Waynesburg had five players on the first-tema offense, including senior quarterback Carter Hill. Also on the first team were offensive lineman Jake Bromley, wide receiver Bernie Thompson, tight end Zac Capan, and all-purpose player Willie Leavell.
The Yellow Jackets’ second-team selections were offensive lineman Nik Sappie, running back Jake Forsythe, defensive lineman J.T. Thompson, safety Mike Lopuchovsky, punter Jonathan Hager and Leavell, who was chosen a kick returner. Receiving honorable mention from Waynesburg were wide receiver Andrew English, defensive linemen Zach Machuga and Josh Tolliver, linebackers Kyle Richey and John Sikora and cornerback Josh Mundell.
