Cold-shooting Yellow Jackets fall to Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio – The shooting woes began early for the Waynesburg University’s men’s basketball team and never stopped as the Yellow Jackets lost at Marietta, 96-44, Tuesday night.

Waynesburg (0-2) shot just 20 percent from the field (10-for-50) and was outrebounded by the Pioneers, 48-35. Marietta (3-0) shot 46 percent and made 18 three-pointers.

Marietta, led by Keith Richardson’s 14 points, pulled away in the first half and led, 34-22, at halftime. The Pioneers started the second half on an 8-0 run and never looked back. Waynesburg had 19 turnovers, which Marietta turned into 21 points, and the Yellow Jackets only scored eight points in the lane.

The Pioneers had five player reach double-digit points. Waynesburg was led by BJ Durham, who scored nine points.
