Week 6 saw a marvelous accomplishment, actually two, in South Fayette’s 42-14 rout of Steel Valley in a Class AA Century Conference game. Quarterback Brett Brumbaugh set the WPIAL’s career passing yardage record and WPIAL career touchdown passes mark. Brumbaugh hit Nick Ponikvar on his 14th passing attempt to break the record, which stands at 8,563 after the game. He broke the mark of 8,508, set by Lenny Williams of Sto-Rox. Brumbaugh threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Roman Denson for his 103rd career TD, snapping Williams’ mark of 102. Oh yeah, the Lions are unbeaten in six games this season and 22 over the past two.

Fights and ejections marred Beth-Center’s victory over Frazier in a key Tri-County South Conference game. Ringgold ruined Matt Humbert’s return to Joe Montana Stadium by beating Belle Vernon 28-24. Humbert coached the Rams last season before taking the BV job. Monessen was upended by Springdale and Chartiers-Houston won a close one against OLSH.

Washington won its sixth straight game by routing Charleroi with 489 total yards. Trinity rallied to knock off winless Uniontown, and Waynesburg got a huge effort from Hunter Cenname (242 rushing yards, 4 TDs) in a win over Summit Academy.
