Mt. Pleasant runs past Charleroi

Playoff-bound Mt. Pleasant rushed for 399 yards to overcome a slow start and defeat Charleroi, 71-14, in an Interstate Conference game Friday night.

Trevor Salopek had 167 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries, while Ethan Charlesworth added 132 yards and two scores on five carries for Mt. Pleasant (6-1, 6-1), which broke open a game that was tied at 14-14 after one quarter with a 35-point second quarter.

Matt Carr, who completed 15 of 27 passes for 234 yards, threw a pair of first quarter touchdown passes for the Cougars (0-7, 0-7), the first covering 51 yards to Trey Douyon, the second a 21-yard strike to Brock Shannon.
