Rams ride second-half surge past Laurel Highlands

UNIONTOWN – Ringgold ran for 504 yards and scored 34 points in the third quarter in a 66-27 route of Laurel Highlands in a WPIAL Class AAA Big Nine Conference game.

The Rams (5-1, 6-1) scored 20 points in the first quarter behind a fumble return by senior defensive end Aaron Szakal, a 51-yard run by senior quarterback Nico Law and a 14-yard touchdown pass by Law to senior wide receiver Jake Gerard.

Leading by six points at halftime, Ringgold turned to junior running back Chacar Berry. The powerful tailback had three third-quarter touchdowns on runs of 86, 5 and 3 yards. He finished with 240 yards on 16 carries.

Freshman running back Brendan Small also scored two second-half touchdowns of 24 and 23 yards. Small ran for 134 yards on 10 carries, while Law added 91 yards and three touchdowns.

Sophomore wide receiver Dalton Holt capped the night for the Rams with a 51-yard kick-off return after Laurel Highlands (3-4, 4-4) senior running back Dominic Galderisi scored his second touchdown of the night.
