NEW WILMINGTON – Carter Hill threw for three touchdown passes and scored on a 1-yard run with 45 seconds remaining in the game to lift Waynesburg to a 26-21 Presidents’ Athletic Conference victory over Westminster Saturday.
Hill’s touchdown helped the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-1 in conference and 6-1 overall, while Westminster falls to 1-4, 1-6.
But it wasn’t easy for Waynesburg.
Pal Columbo, who threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns for Westminster, drove the Titans to the Waynesburg 6-yard line with five seconds remaining in the game. He threw incomplete on first down, but Waynesburg’s Josh Mundell was penalized for defensive holding on second down, placing the ball at the 3.
Columbo again threw incomplete on second-and-goal on a quick pass over the middle and was then pressured into an incompletion on the game’s final play by Jordan Voitus to end the game.
Jake Forsythe had 222 yards rushing on 33 carries for the Yellow Jackets, while Andrew English, Zac Capan and Willie Leavell caught touchdown passes.
