Rohanna, teammate settle for second place

Puma Dominguez and teammate Rafael Echenique eagled the final hole Sunday to win the Bridgestone Americas Golf Cup by one stroke over Robert Rohanna of Waynesburg and Daniel Mazziotta at the Olivos Golf Club in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dominguez and Echenique began day tied for first place with Rohanna and Mazziotta, of Fort Meyers, Fla. Rohanna and Mazziotta birdied the 18th to finish at minus-37 after a final-round 63.
Dominguez and Echenique birdied three of the first four holes. They also birdied the No. 9 to make the turn with a 1-stroke lead. Mazziotta and Rohanna had birdies on the second, fifth and ninth holes.
The Americans birdied No. 11th to pull even at at 34-under. Both teams birdied the 12th, then the Argentines made it two in a row with a birdie at No. 13. They also birdied the 15th to take a two-stroke advantage.
Birdies at 14 and 16 by Rohanna and Mazziotta again gave them a share of the lead at 36-under, setting up the finish at No. 18.
Armando Zarlenga and Maximiliano Godoy also shot 62 to take third place at 34-under 250. Jordan Russell and Brad Hopfinger closed with a 64 and ended in fourth at minus-33.
The event, in its first year, is part of the PGA’s Latin America Tour, on which Rohanna is a player. With a purse of $600,000, the Americas Golf Cup is the richest on the tour. Rohanna is 15th on the tour’s money list, and the top five finishers earn automatic berths on next season’s Web.com Tour.
The Americas Golf Cup is an unofficial money event, which means the earnings do not count toward the season-long totals.
