Hughes’ big game leads Bentworth to win

ELLSWORTH – Josh Hughes accounted for four touchdowns Friday night to lead Bentworth to a 35-6 victory over West Greene in a Tri-County South Conference game.

Bentworth evened its record at 1-1 and West Greene fell to 0-2.

Hughes completed 14 of 19 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for one.

Hughes scored on a 2-yard run to open the scoring, hit Noah Peternel with a 71-yard pass and Phil Stohlman with a 6-yard score that made it 21-0. Peternel caught a 17-yard TD pass to make it 35-0 at halftime. Peternel caught 6 passes for 140 yards and 2 TDs. Stahlman had 3 for 71.

Cole Hamilton scored West Greene’s first touchdown of the season with a one-yard run in the third quarter. Bray Jackson rushed for 97 yards on 15 carries.
