Paris leads Avella past California

AVELLA – Santino Paris threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Avella jumped out to a 33-8 lead and held on for a 33-24 Tri-County South win over California.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved to Saturday after game officials did not arrive at Avella High School.

Paris completed 6 of 15 passes for 233 yards, including touchdowns of 95 yards to Nick Kusich off a fake punt and 49 yards to Tyler Fraysier, who also scored on a 6-yard interception return for the Eagles (1-1, 1-1).

Casey Zajicek had an 85-yard kick return, while Brad Timko and Tyler Rothfuss both scored on 16-yard runs late in the fourth quarter for California (0-1, 0-2).
