Week 2 had players in a rush

Week 2 was a good one for running backs. Beth-Center’s Anthony Welsh rushed for 97 yards and scored three times as the Bulldogs upended Greensburg Central Catholic, 29-20, in a non-conference game. The win kept B-C undefeated at 2-0. Malik Wells rushed for 119 yards and scored three times as Washington beat Burgettstown, 41-12, and also moved to 2-0. Adam Hein ran for 212 yards and scored five touchdowns in Mapletown’s 30-2 victory over host Carmichaels in a Tri-County South Conference game It was the first victory by Mapletown over Carmichaels since 2005.

John-Glen Davis and Hunter Cenname combined for 312 yards and five touchdowns as Waynesburg jumped to 2-0 with a 42-0 shutout of Brownsville. Davis had 165 yards on eight carries and Cenname had 147 on 10. Hunter Hayes had 166 yards on 11 carries and scored twice in South Fayette’s 51-7 rout of Keystone Oaks in the Century Conference. And Nick Cook had 160 yards on 27 carries in Fort Cherry’s 17-14 loss to Brentwood.

And there were some bizarre happenings. The Avella-California game had to be postponed until 7 tonight because the officials did not show up for the game. Trinity scored 42 points and lost by 13, 55-42 to Laurel Highlands. And Frazier scored two touchdowns in a span of just 22 seconds to secure a 28-7 win over Jefferson-Morgan.
