Soccer: Smith’s goal gives South Fayette boys 1-0 win

Jordan Smith scored with 3:50 to play Thursday night to give South Fayette a 1-0 victory over Quaker Valley in a Section 5-AA match. Zack ALi assisted on the goal.

Andrew Pine recorded the shutout for the Lions (3-0, 5-0-1). Quaker Valley fell to 3-3-1, 2-2 in section.

Four different players scored a goal to send Peters Township to a 4-0 victory over Chartiers Valley ina Section 5-AAA match.

Rylen Faloni, Bennett Faloni, Sean Harrison and Jonathan Sion eachscored for the Indians (3-0, 6-0). Josh Deyarmin recorded his fifth straight shutout.

Yough scored on a penalty kick with five minutes remaining to tie Bentworth, 2-2.

The match was tied 1-1 at halftime and Bentworth took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Chad Gurdish. The first goal for the Bearcats (3-3-1) was scored by Darius Hays.

Colby Tarr scored two goals to lift Laurel Highlands over Waynesburg, 4-1, in a Section 6-AA match.

Dom Marghelo also had two goals for the Mustangs (2-2, 4-2). Nate Blair had the only goal for the Raiders (0-3, 2-6).

Hannah Lacey and Brooke Rusilko each had a hat trick to pace Beth-Center to a 6-1 win over Monessen in a Section 2-A match. BC is 2-2, including 1-2 in the section.

South Allegheny was a 6-2 winner over Chartiers-Houston. C-H received goals from Jessica Blumen and Alyson Ferrari.

Maggie Pine had a hat trick to help South Fayette take a 4-0 victory over Keystone Oaks in a Section 5-AA match. Meg Hoerger had the other goal.

Natalie Caraway recorded the shutout for the Lions (4-0, 5-2).
