Morris Claiborne is back with the Dallas Cowboys a day after walking out on the team when he was told he had lost his starting job at cornerback to Orlando Scandrick.

Claiborne, who was beaten for several big plays before making the clinching interception in a 34-31 win at St. Louis last weekend, will play Sunday against Drew Brees and New Orleans.

Coach Jason Garrett said Claiborne faced discipline, but declined to offer specifics. He practiced Wednesday.

The former top 10 pick started the first three games, but only because Scandrick was out on a drug suspension when the season began. Scandrick’s four-game ban was rescinded after two games, and he and Claiborne played a similar number of snaps against the Rams.

Palmer ready to return at QB: Carson Palmer finally is able to throw the football again, and the Arizona quarterback is aiming for a return next week when the Cardinals play the Broncos in Denver.

Palmer had not been able to throw the ball since pinching a nerve in his throwing shoulder when he was slammed into the ground during Arizona’s season-opening victory over San Diego.

He says that Monday morning he could feel the nerve responding. Palmer threw passes of about 10 yards in practice on Wednesday. He plans to throw a little more each day over the coming bye week and “be firing on all cylinders” by at least next Wednesday.

Te’o frustrated with injury: Chargers linebacker Manti Te’o says he’s “frustrated and devastated” with a third foot injury in 13 months.

Te’o sustained a fractured right foot in Sunday’s 22-10 victory at Buffalo. Te’o and the team are declining to reveal much information about it, but club spokesman Bill Johnston says it’s a different injury than the one Te’o suffered in the first exhibition game of his rookie season in 2013. Te’o missed the first three games of 2013 and had surgery in the offseason.

Cassel out for season: Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel will miss the season with broken bones in his left foot, and right guard Brandon Fusco will also be out for the rest of the year because of a pectoral muscle injury.

The Vikings placed Cassel and Fusco on injured reserve Wednesday. Both players were hurt Sunday at New Orleans.

“You work so hard in the offseason to give yourself an opportunity to go out there and play, and then to have it happen this early in the season, especially with the belief that I have in this team, the thoughts of going on and having a lot of success this year, and for it to happen this early is super devastating to me,” Cassel said.
