Teasdale off to good start

Gavin Teasdale, the undefeated state champion from Jefferson-Morgan, got off to a strong start Saturday by winning the 120-pound weight class in the Eastern Invitational Tournament at Gateway High School Saturday.

Teasdale, the No. 1 seed, won by 20-5 technical fall over second-seeded Noah Levett of Kiski in the finals. Teasdale won by default over Luke Landefeld of North Allegheny in the semifinals and pinned Jason Miller of Norwin in 3:01 in the quarterfinals.

Bill Bowlen gave J-M a second title when he decisioned top-seed Tyler Worthing of Kiski 5-3 in three overtimes in the 182-pound final.

Canon-McMillan second in tournament: Canon-McMillan’s Logan Macri (106) and Tommy James (182) each won their reespective weight class to help the Big Macs take second place in the Cumberland Valley Tournament.

Matt Oblock (132) and Micah Kusturiss (138) were second and Dimtri Pihou was third at 113.
