McIntire’s 47 not enough for Waynesburg
Darton McIntire scored two of his career-high 47 points on a layup with four seconds remaining to send the game into overtime, but Waynesburg fell to Brownsville, 95-92, in a Section 4-AA game Friday night.
McIntire’s output was nearly matched by Noah Brown of Brownsville (1-0, 4-0), who scored 39 points. The Falcons, who outscored the Raiders (0-1, 2-2), 12-9 in overtime, also got 22 points from Sherdow Marshall and 12 from James Holcomb.
Mitch Warman added 16 points and 13 rebounds for Waynesburg, while Ronnie Howard chipped in 12 points in the losing effort.
Washington 69, Seton-La Salle 61: Matt Popeck scored 28 points as Washington ended its three-game losing streak to open the season by defeating Seton-La Salle, 69-61, in a Section 3-AA game.
Nate Swart added 17 points and Anthony Popeck 11 for the Prexies (1-0, 1-3), who jumped out to a 25-9 first-quarter lead.
George Mike had 20 points and Paris Ford 13 for Seton-La Salle (0-1, 0-3).
Upper St. Clair 63, Canon-McMillan 57, 2OT: Andrew Wheeler hit a basket with 10 seconds remaining in regulation and Upper St. Clair outlasted Canon-McMillan in two overtimes, 63-57, in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Canon-McMillan (0-1, 3-1) had shots to win the game at the end of regulation and after the first overtime but missed both.
Doug Wheeler led USC (1-0, 3-0) with 18 points, while Wheeler had 17 and Zach Pateras 16.
Britton Beachy had 27 points for the Big Macs, who also got 12 points from Jake Davey.
California 64, Jefferson-Morgan 33: John DeFranco’s 14 points helped California to a 64-33 Section 3-A win over Jefferson-Morgan.
Kass Taylor and Ben Wilson added 12 points each for the Trojans (1-0, 3-1), who outscored the Rockets (0-1, 0-4), 33-16 in the second half.
D.L. Garrett led the Rockets with 10 points.
Charleroi 63, Beth-Center 37: Sam Miceli scored 30 points as Charleroi steadily pulled away from Beth-Center to win, 63-37, in a Section 4-AA game.
The Cougars (1-0, 3-1) jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter and led 30-19 at the half.
Bradey McDonnell led Beth-Center (0-1, 1-2) with 17 points.
Springdale 44, Carmichaels 30: Dante Mahlmeister had 15 points as Springdale outscored Carmichaels, 36-13, in the second and third quarters en route to a 44-30 win over the Mikes in a non-section game.
Mike Zolnierczyk added 11 points for Springdale (2-2), which trailed 4-3 after one quarter.
Liam Shea had 13 points for the Mikes (2-1).
Ringgold 61, Thomas Jefferson 54, OT: Anthony Pampena scored six of his 12 points in overtime to pace Ringgold to a 61-54 win over Thomas Jefferson in a Section 4-AAA game.
C.J. Mason hit two of three free throws in the final seconds to tie the game, 50-50, and send it to overtime.
Dakota Browning led the Rams (1-0, 4-0) with 17 points. George Martin added 14.
Nick Freiwald’s 16 points paced Thomas Jefferson (0-2, 1-2).
West Greene 54, Geibel 40: Three players scored in double figures – led by Craig Weaver’s double-double – to help West Greene dispose of Geibel 54-40 in a Section 3-A game.
Weaver had 11 points and 14 rebounds for the Pioneers (1-0, 3-1), who led 17-4 after one quarter. Zach McHenry and Isaac Rizor each scored 12.
Bailey Miller had a game-high 19 points for Geibel (0-1, 1-2).
Brentwood 59, Fort Cherry 45: Dorian Bowie scored a game-high 32 points to send Brentwood to a 59-45 win over Fort Cherry in a Section 3-AA game.
Brentwood (1-0, 2-2) led 31-20 at halftime.
Rob McAnany had 15 points, Chad Colussy 13 and Devon Brown 10 for the Rangers (0-1, 1-3).
Canevin 80, Chartiers-Houston 49: Canevin had nine three-point field goals to help Canevin defeat Chartiers-Houston, 80-49, in a Section 3-AA game.
Walter Bonds led the way with 17 points for Bishop Canevin (1-0, 4-0). Justin Dix had 16, Dom Palmosina 12 and Mitch King 10.
A.J. Myers had a game-high 22 points for the Bucs (0-1, 2-2). Ryan Mele had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Trinity 72, Keystone Oaks 54: Joey Koroly scored 23 points to propel Trinity to a 72-54 win over Keystone Oaks in a Section 5-AAA game.
Adam Raggi had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Hillers (1-0, 1-2). Saul Wells and Jaden Nelson each scored 10.
Jake Wilson had 15 points for Keystone Oaks (0-1, 1-2).

Jamie Lawrence added 12 points for the Rockets (1-0, 4-1). Lashaundria Gillaspie had 10 points to lead Monessen (0-1, 1-2).
