Miceli scores 41 points in win over Frazier

Sam Miceli scored 30 of his game-high 41 points in the second half as Charleroi pulled away with a 79-61 win over Frazier in Section 4-AA game.

Miceli, a junior guard, made three three-pointers and helped the Cougars, who trailed 31-29 at halftime, 50 second-half points to secure the win. Senior center John Arnold had 12 points, 13 rebounds and five blocks for Charleroi (2-0, 4-1), and Eric Tedrow chipped in 13. Caleb Cox had 26 points for the Commodores (1-1, 2-2), who grabbed the halftime lead with an 18-point second quarter.

Trinity 65, South Park 62: Joey Koroly sank two key free throws with four seconds to play to help Trinity get past South Park, 65-62, in a Section 5-AAA game.

Koroly led the Hillers (2-0, 2-2) with 21 points and Ben Phillis had a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds.

South Park (0-2, 1-4) was led by Howie Ball’s 16 points. Steve Ennis had 14 and Joe Torris 13.

Washington 91, Fort Cherry 56: Matt Popeck scored a game-high 33 points to power Washington to a 91-56 victory over Fort Cherry in a Section 3-AA game.

Markel Pulliam added 21 for the Prexies (2-0, 2-3), which led 51-30 at halftime. Anthony Popeck had 14 points.

Devon Brown had his fifth straight double-double for Fort Cherry (0-2, 1-4) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Rob McAnany scored 14 points.

Laurel Highlands 46, Ringgold 44: Jake Swartz scored on a layup with five seconds left to give Laurel Highlands a 46-44 win over Ringgold in a Section 4-AAA game.

Swartz finished with 14 points for LH (2-1, 3-2), who led 22-21 at halftime. Clayton Burchick also had 14 points.

Dakota Browning scored 11 points and George Martin 10 for the Rams (1-1, 4-1).

Monessen 108, Jefferson-Morgan 20: Monessen scored 47 first-quarter points and jumped out to a 69-point lead at the half on its way to a 108-20 victory over Jefferson-Morgan in a Section 3-A game.

Jaden Altomore had a game-high 30 points, including six three-pointers, while Dwight Moore added 23, Justice Rice had 17 and LaValle Rush 14. The Greyhounds (1-0, 3-2) led 81-12 at the half, did not allow more than 10 points in a quarter and carried an 84-point advantage into the fourth.

D.L. Garrett had 10 points for the Rockets (0-2, 0-5), who were shutout in the third quarter.

Peters Township 69, Bethel Park 58: Peters Township used a 46-point second half to defeat Bethel Park, 69-58, in a Section 4-AAAA game.

Mike Cortese had a game-high 21 points and Ben Doyle had 17 for the Indians (1-1, 4-1), who made 10 three-pointers and overcame an eight-point halftime deficit. Peters Township scored 23 points in both the third and fourth quarters. Nick Valentic added 12 points for PT.

Chance Wright led the Black Hawks (0-2, 3-2) with 19 points.

Brownsville 83, Carmichaels 47: Noah Brown scored a game-high 25 points to help Brownsville defeat Carmichaels, 83-47, in a Section 4-AA game.

Tryvon Brown added 15 points for the Falcons (2-0, 6-0), who led 49-22 at halftime and held the Mikes to seven points in the first quarter. Liam Shea had 10 points for Carmichaels (0-1, 2-2).

Brentwood 61, Burgettstown 47: Brentwood used a 19-point third quarter to overcome a halftime deficit on its way to a 61-47 win over Burgettstown in a Section 3-AA game.

DeAngelo Brisco had a game-high 16 points, Shawn McGlaughlin had 10 and Shane Yarsky added 13 for the Spartans (2-0, 3-2), who trailed 28-27 at halftime before outscoring the Blue Devils, 19-6, in the third quarter.

Max Shaw had 14 points for Burgettstown (0-2, 1-5).

California 62, Avella 31: Kass Taylor had his first career double-double with 30 points and 11 rebounds to help California defeat Avella, 62-31, in a Section 3-A game.

John DeFranco added 13 points for the Trojans (2-0, 4-1), who outscored Avella 23-3 in the first quarter to forge a 19-point halftime lead. Steve Miller had 11 points for the Eagles (1-1, 1-4).

Montour 55, McGuffey 18: Montour held McGuffey to just four points in the second half on its way to a 55-18 in a Section 5-AAA game.

Caleb Bryan scored a game-high 12 points for the Spartans (1-0, 3-1), who led 26-4 at halftime and shutout the Highlanders in the first quarter. They had 10 different players score. McGuffey (0-2, 2-2) made just two of 11 free throws and was led by Colin Chapman’s seven points.

Waynesburg 64, Bentworth 52: Mitch Warman had a double-double to lead Waynesburg past Bentworth 64-52 in a Section 4-AA game.

Warman had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders (1-1, 3-3), whose 20-6 run in the third quarter put the game away. Darton McIntire had 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals. Ron Howard added 10 points.

Nick Silver led Bentworth (0-2, 2-3) with 17 points and Will Bashioum tossed in 14.

Seton-La Salle 63, Chartiers-Houston 56: A 24-4 run in the second quarter paved the way for Seton-La Salle to a 63-56 win over Chartiers-Houston in a Section 3-AA game.

Bill O’Mally led all scorers with 25 points and Cletus Felton added 15 for the Rebels (1-1, 1-3).

Cameron Hanley and A.J. Myers led the Bucs (0-2, 3-3) with 16 points apiece. Andrew Clark had 11.

West Greene 59, Carmichaels 29: McKenna Lampe and Madison Lampe combined for 40 points to help West Greene extend its winning streak to five games with a 59-29 win over Carmichaels in a non-section game.

McKenna Lampe had a game-high 21 points and Madison Lampe had 19 for the Pioneers (5-0), who led 34-14 at halftime and overcame 11 missed free throws. Nine different players scored for West Greene. Kaitlyn Wilson had eight points for the Mikes (2-4).

Norwin 53, Canon-McMillan 40: Jenna Cole scored 16 points to help Norwin knock off Canon-McMillan, 53-40, in a non-section game.

Alayna Grieble added 12 points and Taylor Sabol had 10 for Norwin (6-0), which outscored the Big Macs, 34-22, over the second half.

Cheyenne Trest paced the Big Macs (3-1) with 12 points. Izzy Allen chipped in with 10.
