Girls basketball: Peters Twp. rallies to beat Mt. Lebanon

Alyssa Knopka scored 20 points as Peters Township rallied in the fourth quarter and handed host Mt. Lebanon a 70-58 defeat in a Section 4-AAAA girls basketball game Thursday night.

Mt. Lebanon (2-1, 2-3) jumped out to a 21-11 first quarter lead, but the Indians (2-1, 5-1) charged back in the second quarter with a 21-12 run to trim the lead to 33-32 at the half.

Mt. Lebanon exptended its lead to 50-47 after three quarters, but Peters Township outscored the Blue Devils 23-8 in the final quarter to get the win.

Konopka scored eight points in the pivotal fourth quarter, as did Madison kerry, who finished with 16 points. Sophomore Lillian Young scored 17 points for PT.

McKenzie Bushee paced Mt. Lebanon with 17 points and Maura Wallace had 11.

Ringgold 47, Brownsville 43: Ringgold jumped out to a 16-9 advantage after one quarter and made that lead stand, as the Rams handed Brownsville its first loss of the season, 47-43, in a Section 4-AAA game.

Bailey Cooper had 27 points to lead the Rams (3-0, 4-3), who also got 12 points from Natalie Adams.

Maris Seto matched Cooper with 27 points for Brownsville (2-1 6-1).

West Greene 70, Monessen 36: McKenna Lampe scored 13 of her 16 points in the first half as West Greene built a 32-16 lead en route to a 70-36 Section 3-A win over Monessen.

Madison Lampe added a game-high 17 points, while Marissa Rode added 13 for the Pioneers (3-0, 6-0).

Natalia Holmes had 15 points and Lashaundria Gillaspie had 11 for the Greyhounds (0-3, 1-4).

Canon-McMillan 49, Moon 36: Canon-McMillan used a big first half to remain undefeated in Section 4-AAAA as the Big Macs cruised to a 49-36 win over host Moon.

The Big Macs (3-0, 5-2) forged a 31-14 lead at halftime. Becca Turney paced C-M with 15 points and Cheyenne Trest followed with 10 points.

Moon (0-3, 1-5) outscored Canon-Mac in each of the last two quarters but couldn’t overcome the 17-poinmt halftime deficit. Daysha Quick scored 13 points to lead the Tigers.

Charleroi 56, Waynesburg 40: Aislyn Lee and Kaitlyn Riley scored 13 points each as Charleroi remained unbeaten with a 56-40 Section 3-AA victory over Waynesburg.

Maria Claybaugh added 11 points for the Cougars (3-0, 6-0), who led 30-20 at the half.

Kirsten Garber had 20 points and Celine Monica 17 for Waynesburg (1-2, 1-4).

California 61, Mapletown 19: Jenna Miller scored 19 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds to lead California to a 61-19 Section 3-A win over Mapletown.

Dominique Gaston added 13 points and Bailey Vig 10 for the Trojans (3-0, 3-3).

Abby Antill had 10 points to lead the Maples (1-2, 1-6).

Seton La-Salle 64, Burgettstown 22: Layni Ziegler led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points as Seton-La Salle ended its three-game losing streak to open the season with a 64-22 Section 3-AA win over Burgettstown.

Delaney Daly added 11 points, while Madelena Psillidis and Riley O’Donnell had 10 each for Seton-La Salle (1-0, 1-3).

Katie Tarr and Kacie Prasko had 10 points each for Burgettstown (1-2, 5-2).

Carmichaels 35, Bentworth 27: Carmichaels pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bentworth 14-8 over the final eight minutes for a 35-27 Section 4-AA win.

Megan Walker had nine points to lead the Mikes (1-1, 3-4).

Tori Cicci and Jenna Vito had seven points apiece for the Bearcats (0-3, 2-4).

Jefferson-Morgan 67, Geibel Catholic 15: Nikki Venick had 18 points and Jefferson-Morgan led 42-8 at the half en route to a 67-15 Section 3-A win over Geibel Catholic.

Kayla Yorko added 16 points, Morgan Simkovic 14 and Erin Confortini 10 for the Rockets (3-0, 6-1).

Geibel falls to 1-2, 1-4.

Chartiers-Houston 47, McGuffey 32: High-scoring Alexa Williamson did not play against McGuffey because of a slight knee injury, but Chartiers-Houston still had Jala Walker and Cassidy Stollar in the lineup and the duo sparked the Bucs to a 47-32 non-section win on the Highlanders’ home court.

Walker scored a game-high 16 points for C-H (5-1), which has won five in a row. Stollar followed with 11 points and made all three of C-H’s three-pointers.

McGuffey (0-6) received 15 points from Katie Demi.

Avella 48, Fort Cherry 32: Avella was strong in the middle two quarters, outscoring host Fort Cherry by 17 points, and rode that advantage to a 48-33 victory in Section 3-A.

Joelle Gossett led Avella (1-2, 2-4) with 14 points. Brayden Tarolli followed with 11 and Grace Lengauer had 10. The Eagles led 14-12 after one quarter, then outscored Fort Cherry 31-14 over the next two periods.

Shannon Relihan scored a team-high 15 points for Fort Cherry (0-3, 1-5).

Frazier 48, Beth-Center 27: Ashley Moger had 18 points to lead Frazier to a 48-27 Section 4-AA win over Beth-Center.

Alena Blasczyk added 12 points for the Commodores (2-1, 4-3), who shut the Bulldogs (0-2, 2-3) out in the first quarter, building a 12-0 lead.

Kinlee Whited scored 13 points for B-C.
