Girls basketball: Kotchman, Trinity shoot down USC
Sierra Kotchman scored a game-high 26 points Tuesday night to power Trinity to a 56-31 win in a non-section game.
Mary Dunn chipped in with 17 points for the Hillers (3-1, 5-2), who outscored USC 29-12 over the middle two quarters.
Ally Steve scored 12 for the Panthers (2-3, 4-4).
Baldwin 48, Canon-McMillan 22: Baldwin’s defense held Canon-McMillan to single digits in each quarter to come away with a 48-22 win in Section 4-AAAA action.
Lauren Gibbert led the Highlanders (2-2, 5-3) with 13 points. Kayla McCormick had 12 points and Carly Lutz 10.
Becca Turney led the Big Macs (3-1, 5-3) with six points.
Waynesburg 36, Albert Gallatin 32: Kirsten Garber scored 13 points to help Waynesburg to a 36-32 win over Albert Gallatin in a nonsection game.
Celine Monica added 10 points for the Raiders (3-4).
Emily McCalley scored nine for the Colonials (1-2, 2-6) with nine points.
West Greene 65, Clay-Battelle (W.Va.) 51: West Greene got back on the winning track by rolling to a 65-51 victory over Clay-Battelle in a game played in Blacksville, W.Va.
McKenna Lampe and Mrissa Rode each scored 18 points for West Greene (7-1), which trailed 11-10 after one quarter. The Pioneers took control in the second quarter and led 28-17 at halftime. Madison Lampe also hit for double figures for the Pioneers with 15 points.
Hayle Barr led Clay-Battelle with 22 points.
Yough 31, Bentworth 20: Yough won its first game of the season, 31-20, over visiting Bentworth in a non-section game.
Autumn Zgorlinski led Bentworth (2-6) with six points. The Bearcats led 14-11 at halftime but were outscored 12-2 in the fourth quarter.
