Waynesburg women falter in 2nd half, lose at La Roche

Juniors Sabrina McLin and Tichina Mitchell combined for 56 points Tuesday afternoon to power La Roche to a 76-53 victory over visiting Waynesburg in a non-conference women’s basketball game.

La Roche (9-2) won its seventh consecutive game while Waynesburg slipped to 3-5 and had its two-game winning streak snapped.

La Roche led 27-26 at halftime, then scored 49 points in the second half. McLin scored 21 of her game-high 32 points in the second half. The Red Hawks shot 64 percent from the field over the final 20 minutes. Mitchell finished with 24 points and Mackenzie O’Donnell scored 13.

Waynesburg was led by Katie Gehlmann’s 14 points. The Yellow Jackets shot only 34 percent for the game.
