Walker leads Char-Houston past Farrell

Junior guard Jala Walker scored a game-high 24 points and Chartiers-Houston allowed just 10 second-half points to defeat host Farrell, 60-35, in the championship game of the Steelers’ holiday tournament Wednesday.

Walker was named the tournament’s most valuable player, while Cassidy Stollar and Alexa Williamson were selected to the all-tournament team. Walker had 15 of her 24 points in the first half to help the Bucs (8-2), who also won the tournament last season, forge a 13-poitn halftime lead. C-H then allowed just eight poitns in the third quarter and two in the fourth to secure the win. Williamson had nine points and Stollar chipped in seven.

Kiara Wade had 12 points for Farrell.

Trinity 59, Mount Pleasant 37: Mary Dunn scored 21 points to help Trinity win the championship game of the Mount Pleasant Tournament, beating the host Vikings, 59-37.

Sierra Kotchman added 14 points for the Hillers (7-2), who made 19 of 25 free throws and led by 14 at halftime. Dunn and Kotchman were named to the all-tournament team.

Morgan Barlock had 20 points for the Vikings (5-5).

Carlynton 48, California 42: Ashley Wilson had 15 points as Carlynton won the championship game of the California Christmas Tournament, beating the host Trojans, 48-42.

Carlynton (7-2) trailed 20-15 at the half, but went on an 18-9 run to start the second half and take control of the game.

Bailey Vig scored 16 points to pace California (6-3).

Jefferson-Morgan 44, Beth-Center 40: Senior forward Ally Bogden scored seven of her team-high 16 points in overtime to lift Jefferson-Morgan over Beth-Center, 44-40, at the Laurel Highlands Holiday Tournament.

Erin Confortini and Nikki Venick chipped in nine points for the Rockets (9-1), who have now won nine consecutive games. Kinlee Whited had a game-high 25 points for the Bulldogs (2-6), including all 11 of the team’s 11 first-quarter poitns. The two teams combined for 50 attempted free throws.

Charleroi 66, Monessen 24: Charleroi allowed just five points in the second half as it cruised to a 66-24 win over Monessen in a consolation game at the California Tournament.

Kaitlyn Riley, who was selected to the all-tournament team, had 25 points for the Cougars (9-1) and Maria Claybaugh added 11. Charleroi led by 21 points at halftime and outscored Monessen, 28-5, in the second half. Natalia Holmes had 11 points for the Greyhounds (1-9).

Brentwood 50, Carmichaels 18: Molly Huffman’s 14 points led Brentwood to a 50-18 win over Carmichaels at the California Tournament.

Brentwood (7-3) led 26-11 at the half and put the game away with a 19-5 third quarter.

Gina Ranieri led the Mikes (4-7) with six points.
