Ben Moore, a 33-year-old native of Wisconsin, was named pitching coach by the Washington Wild Things Friday. Moore replaces Kevin Gryboski, who left the team last season.

For the past seven seasons, Moore pitched for the Sioux Falls Canaries and is the most decorated pitcher in the team’s history.

Moore earned back-to-back American Association Pitcher of the Year honors in 2010 and 2011 and holds the league career records for wins (49) and strikeouts (608). He set single-season league records for strikeouts in 2010 (126) and 2011 (144). In 2011, Moore notched a 13-win season, tied for most in team history.

He was a member of the 2008 championship squad and the 2012 that finished second.

Moore was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Yankees and reached as high as Class AA with the Trenton Thunder in 2004 before joining the independent ranks in 2005.

Moore played in 11 different cities in four different countries on three different continents.
