Alec Ferrari scored a school-record 45 points to lead Chartiers-Houston to a 69-56 Section 3-AA win over Fort Cherry.
Ferrari, a senior guard, made 14-of-22 field goals and was 16-of-24 from the foul line as he broke Brendan Cypher’s school record of 44 points. A.J. Myers added 13 points for the Bucs (3-4, 7-7).
Devin Brown scored 16 points and Rob McAnany added 11 for Fort Cherry (2-5, 3-11).
Trinity 57, McGuffey 56: Trinity erased a 32-27 halftime deficit, then held on for a 57-56 Section 5-AAA high school boys basketball win over McGuffey Tuesday night.
Joey Koroly scored 15 points, Ben Phyllis 11 and Nick Moretti 10 for the Hillers (2-4, 5-8), who went on a 13-7 run in third quarter.
Damian McCloskey scored a game-high 29 points for McGuffey (2-4, 6-7), while Zach Maxwell added 13 for the Highlanders.
Washington 71, Burgettstown 63: Jonathan Spina had 17 points as Washington held off Burgettstown, 71-63, in a Section 3-AA game.
Nathan Swart added 16 points and Marquel Pulliam had 15 for the Prexies (5-2, 7-6).
Logan Triebsch scored 17 points and Hunter Lecker had 16 for Burgettstown (2-5, 5-9).
Beth-Center 50, Bentworth 36: Beth-Center broke away from Bentworth in the third quarter and captured a 50-36 victory in a Section 4-AA game.
Brady McDonnell led the way with 18 points for the Bulldogs (1-4, 6-6), who outscored Bentworth 17-5 in the third quarter.
Damon Petrola-Bakos had 13 points and Zach Robker 10 for Bentworth (2-4, 5-7).
South Fayette 61, Keystone Oaks 37: Brett Brumbaugh had a double-double to lead South Fayette to a 61-37 win over Keystone Oaks in a Section 5-AA game.
Brumbaugh poured in 24 points and had 13 rebounds for the Lions (6-0, 9-1), who led 27-16 at halftime. Jack Relihan added 16 points. Nick McKee had 14 points and eight assists.
Kobe Phillipi led KO (0-6, 1-12) with 10 points.
Girls Results
Carmichaels 57, Mapletown 31: Caroline Cree scored 22 points had 10 rebounds and four steals to power Carmichaels to a 57-31 victory over Mapletown in a non-section game.
The win moved Carmichaels to 6-9. Rachel Buchtan had 10 points for the Maples (3-10). The two teams combined to make 28 of 60 free throws.
Bentworth 55, Yough 29: Heather Chester tossed in 20 points to propel Bentworth to a 55-29 victory over Yough in a non-section game.
Riley Skerbetz chipped in with 13 points for the Bearcats (7-6), who led 28-2 at halftime.
Yough fell to 0-12.
Jefferson-Morgan 55, West Greene 21: Two players reached double figures to send Jefferson-Morgan to a 55-21 victory over West Greene in a Section 3-A game.
Erin Confortini tossed in 15 points for the Rockets (6-1, 12-1) and Nikki Venick added 10.
Emily Tedrow led West Greene (0-7, 0-12) with 10 points.
Geibel 39, Avella 38: A second-half rally by Avella fell short in a 39-38 loss to Geibel in a Section 3-A game.
Riley Bocan led the Gators (4-2, 6-5) with 10 points. Geibel led 23-11 at halftime but Avella outscored the Gators 27-16 in the second half.
Grace Lengauer paced Avella (1-6, 2-11) with 12 points.
