McKee’s big night lifts South Fayette to win

Nick McKee made seven-three pointers and finished with a game-high 24 points to lead South Fayette over Steel Valley, 61-51, in a non-section game Wednesday night.

McKee was joined in double figures by Jake Thomas (11 points) and Jack Relihan (13). The Lions trailed 10-8 at the end of the first quarter before taking a six-point lead into halftime. After holding off a rally by Steel Valley, South Fayette (10-1) secured its fifth consecutive victory.

Dominic Keys had 17 points for the Ironmen (7-5).

Bentworth 55, Geibel 51: Angelo Rios-Lopez helped fill the void left by Damon Petrola-Bakos’ injury with a 21-point performance to lift Bentworth over Geibel, 55-51, in a non-section game.

Zach Rosker added 15 points for the Bearcats (6-8), who have won three of their last four games. Bentworth led by one point at the end of the third quarter before outscoring Geibel ,18-12, in the final eight minutes.

Kyle Toth had 17 points for Geibel (7-6).

South Park 61, Ringgold 33: Justin Gorny and Dan Wanker combined for 39 points as South Park defeated Ringgold, 61-33, in a non-section game.

Gorny had a game-high 22 points and Wanker added 19 for the Eagles. South Park (10-5) jumped out to a 37-15 halftime lead and held the Rams to six points in the fourth quarter. Ringgold (5-8) only made 15 field goals and only reached double digits in the third quarter with 12 points.

Southmoreland 51, McGuffey 49: Tommy Pisula scored a game-high 23 points and Southmoreland held off a McGuffey rally on its way to a 51-49 victory in a non-section game.

Pisula was joined in double figures by teammate Ben Niemiec, who finished with 11 points. The Scotties (11-2) led 36-24 at halftime, but McGuffey drew close, drawing to within two poitns in the final minute, but Southmoreland held on for the win.

Damian McCloskey led McGuffey (6-8) with 23 points.

Chartiers-Houston 66, Carmichaels 47: AJ Myers and Alec Ferrari combined for 35 points as Chartiers-Houston cruised to a 66-47 victory over Carmichaels in a non-section game.

Myers scored a game-high 22 points and Ferrari chipped in 13 for the Bucs (8-7), who scored 42 first-half points before holding off a fourth-quarter rally by the Mikes (3-10).

Mike Mundell had a team-high 18 points for Carmichaels and Liam Shea added 15.

Monessen 71, West Greene 22: Three players scored in dobule figures during Monessen’s 71-22 win over West Greene ina Section 3-A game.

Jaden Altomore had 19 points and seven rebounds for the Greyhounds (6-0, 9-5). Dwight Moore poured in 12 points and Noah Yartin had 10 points and seven rebounds. Lavalle Rush scored nine points and handed out eight assists.

Colton Rush led West Greene (2-4, 4-10) with seven points.

Trinity 53, New Castle 18: Three players scored in double figures to send Trinity to a 53-18 win over New Castle in a non-section game,

Sierra Kotchman led the way for the Hillers (10-2) with 17 points. Mary Dunn had 14 and Delaney Elling chipped in with 10.

Carmella Matarazzo led New Castle (1-13) with nine points.

Jefferson-Morgan 60, Mapletown 46: Jefferson-Morgan used a 27-point fourth quarter to pull away with a 60-46 victory over Mapletown in a Section 3-A game Tuesday night.

Rece Henneman led the Rockets with a game-high 25 points. Jefferson-Morgan (3-3, 8-5) led 21-18 before outscoring the Maples, 27-15, in the third quarter, despite making just 14 of 32 free throws.

Ben Boone led Mapletown (0-5, 0-13) with 16 points.
