Yellow Jackets fly to 30-point victory over Thiel

Waynesburg had 11 players in the scoring column and the Yellow Jackets climbed to the .500 mark in the PAC with a 77-47 victory over visiting Thiel Wednesday night.
The Yellow Jackets (3-3, 6-7) dominated on the boards, outrebounding Thiel (2-4, 3-9) by a 58-36 margin and collecting 22 offensive rebounds. Waynesburg built a 43-25 lead by halftime and pushed the advantage to 30 points, allowing head coach Sam Jones to clear his bench with nine minutes remaining.
Rebecca Kerr, Hayden Giuliani and Katie Gehlmann each scored 10 points for Waynesburg. Haley Delaney had eight points and a game-high nine rebounds. Giuliani made two of the Yellow Jackets’ five three-pointers in the first half that enabled Waynesburg to pull away to the commanding lead.
Thiel’s Hannah Stoneman led all scorers with 12 points.
St. Vincent 90, Washington & Jefferson 61: St. Vincent made 12 three-point field goals and held on to a 24-point lead at halftime on its way to a 90-61 win over Washington & Jefferson in a PAC game.
The Presidents (4-3, 10-4) opened the game on a 6-0 run, but St. Vincent (7-0, 13-1) answered with a 22-2 run to build a 24-point lead at halftime. Wash & Jeff’s Danni Medovich scored 10 of her team-high 15 points in the second half but the Presidents could not overcome a poor shooting performance – making just 38.6 percent of their field goals. Beka Bellhy had 13 points and Valerie Dunlap added 12 for the Presidents.
St. Vincent outrebounded Washington & Jefferson, 52-31, and scored 30 points in the lane and made 12 three-pointers. The Bearcats got 38 points from their bench and forced 14 turnovers. Taylor Mathers led St. Vincent with 16 points and Hannah Carroll chipped in 13.
St. Vincent 87, Washington & Jefferson 51: St. Vincent started the game on a 22-9 run and never let up as the Bearcats defeated Washington & Jefferson, 87-51, in a PAC game.
Mike Resnik scored a game-high 23 points with 13 of 16 free throws and added eight rebounds for the Presidents (0-6, 1-14), who trailed 44-25 at halftime. W&J shot just 25.9 percent from the field and allowed 26 points off turnovers.
St. Vincent (6-0, 11-4), led by four double-digit scorers, got 39 points from its bench and outrebounded the Presidents, 50-40. The Bearcats were led by Pat Jones’ 15 points and made 15 three-pointers.
The loss is W&J’s sixth in a row.
