The Pennsylvania Rebellion finalized a trade Tuesday, sending twin sisters Taylor and Tatum Edwards to the Chicago Bandits in exchange for right-handed pitcher Andrea Williamson and outfielder Megan Wiggins.
Taylor Edwards was a rookie catcher last season and her sister a right-handed pitcher. Taylor Edwards was the last pick in the second round of the NPF draft last year and Tatum was signed as a free agent. Both came from the University of Nebraska.
“We hate to see Taylor and Tatum Edwards go,” said Steve Zavacky, assistant general manager of the Rebellion. “Taylor did a lot of catching for us. They are talented players.”
Taylor Edwards was fourth on the Rebellion with a .241 batting average. She had three home runs and a team-best 13 RBI. Tatum Edwards pitched 30 innings in 13 appearances and compiled a 1-3 record with a 5.13 ERA.
Taylor Edwards ended her college career with 17 school records and a pair of NCAA records. She set Nebraska career marks with 54 home runs, four grand slams, 150 walks and 39 hit-by-pitches.
Tatum Edwards was a four-time all-conference and two-time all-American player at Nebraska. She was Big Ten Pitcher of the Year in 2013, the same season she won 30 games and hit 11 home runs.
Williamson had a 3-3 record with a 2.84 ERA on the pitching-rich Bandits last season. She had control issues, walking 27 in 49½ innings. Interestingly, her longest outing was seven innings in a 6-4 win against the Rebellion on July 27. Williamson is a product of Marshall University and grew up in Huntington, W.Va.
Williamson should be the No. 2 pitcher behind Pauly unless right-hander Dallas Escobedo, the No. 1 pick in last year’s draft, makes a marked improvement. Escobedo was 1-11 with a 5.83 ERA. Also on the staff are left-hander Angel Bunner and right-handers Bryana Walker and Anna Miller.
Wiggins had a .288 average, hit nine home runs and drove in 27 runs. She walked 21 times and struck out just three times in 149 at-bats.
The Rebellion open the season May 29 against Chicago at Consol Energy Park.
