Penn State linebacker Mike Hull, a Canon-McMillan High School graduate, has been forced to pull out of playing in the Senior Bowl Saturday because of a knee injury.

Hull had arthroscopic surgery on the knee to repair some cartilage two weeks ago following the Nittany Lions’ victory over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl. According to his father, Tom Hull, there was some swelling in the knee that caused the linebacker to decide not to continue with practices.

“He was not able to come out of his breaks and stuff like he wanted to, he wasn’t able to go 100 percent,” said Tom Hull. “He went down there and wanted to give it a shot.

“He was really looking forward to it. He was pretty bummed.”

Hull, who has been training at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., to ready himself for the NFL Combine next month, has been replaced by Ohio State linebacker Curtis Grant.
