EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville bolted to a 6-0 lead after four innings then held off a rally by the Washington Wild Things to capture an 8-4 victory Saturday night in a Frontier League game.

Dean Wilson and Josh Allen each had a two-run double in a four-run fourth inning that stretched the Otters’ lead to 6-0.

David Popkins and Carter Bell had RBI doubles in the sixth inning. Washington added two more in the seventh inning when Popkins scored on a passed ball and a groundout by Scott Kalamar drove in Danny Poma.

John Schultz led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run and Jeremy Nowak had an RBI single to give the Otters a 2-0 lead in the first.

Schultz scored one of Evansville’s two runs in the seventh on a double steal.
