Former Pirates reliever Kent Tekulve will be the guest of honor when the Washington Wild Things celebrate American Heart Association Night at Consol Energy Park Thursday. The Wild Things are scheduled to host the visiting Rockford Aviators at 7:05 p.m.

In 2001, Tekulve was Director of Baseball Operations during the Wild Things’ inaugural season in the Frontier League. Tekulve is currently an analyst for Root Sports Pittsburgh. A commemorative Tekulve bobblehead, courtesy of CoGo’s, will be given to the first 1,000 fans. Additionally, the evening’s game will feature a special Pirates style jersey that will be available for bid and auctioned during the game.

Tekulve was a former all-star relief pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Pirates. He was a key member of the Pirates team that won the World Series in 1979.

Tekulve will participate in pregame ceremonies.
