Joliet slams Wild Things

JOLIET – The Wild Things scored a run in the first inning but did not score again and Joliet put together a 14-hit attack in a 11-1 defeat of Washington Tuesday night in a Frontier League baseball game.

Washington manged just five hits in the game, including doubles by C.J. Beatty, who scored the team’s lone run, and two by Jeudy Valdez as the Wild Things fell to 9-13.

Phillip Bates homered and drove in three runs for Joliet (9-13), which also got two RBI each from Mike Garza, Jack Cleary and JD Williams.

Tim Flight allowed five runs, all earned, in 5 2/3 innings for Washington. Reliever Pat Butler gave up six runs in 2/3 of an inning in the eighth.

Andrew Strange earned the win for the Slammers.
