Wild Things blank Lake Erie

AVON, Ohio – The Washington Wild Things dominated the Lake Erie Crushers Friday night, winning 7-0 in a Frontier League game.

After a streak of 27 scoreless innings, the Wild Things scored seven runs on seven hits. C.J. Beatty and Sam Mende each had two-out RBI doubles in the top of the fourth to put the Wild Things on top, 2-0.

Carter Bell celebrated his birthday with a three-run homer in the top of the fifth. Lee Orr smacked a home run in the top of the sixth to give Washington the seven-run advantage.

Luke Wilkins recorded the shutout, allowing six hits in nine innings. He faced 34 batters, striking out seven and walking only walking en route to his second victory of the season.
