Things beat Crushers

AVON, Ohio – Matt Sergey allowed just one run in six innings as the Washington Wild Things defeated Lake Erie, 3-1, Saturday night in a Frontier League baseball game.

Sergey (2-3) scattered four hits and struck out six to help Washington improve to (11-15). Matt Purnell got the final two outs to record his second save of the season. Sam Mende had two doubles, drove in a run and scored twice for Washington.

Hunter Adkins took the loss for Lake Erie (8-15), despite allowing just four hits over seven innings. Adkins was charged with all three runs, all of which were earned.

Juan Sanchez had a pair of hits for the Crushers.
