Brumbaugh shines in Big 33 game
South Fayette quarterback Brett Brumbaugh, who will continue his football career at Duquesne this fall after graduating as the most decorated passer in WPIAL history, was brilliant in his final high school game Saturday night.
The PIAA’s all-time leading passer and two-time state champion continued his dominance at Hersheypark Stadium by tossing three touchdowns and throwing for more than 225 yards to lead Pennsylvania over Maryland, 20-3, in a rain-shortened Big 33 Football Classic. The game was called shortly after halftime when a thunderstorm rolled into Hershey. The performance was enough to earn Brumbaugh MVP honors and it caps his career with his 33rd consecutive victory.
The two-time Observer-Reporter Player of the Year finished his high school career with 11,084 yards, including 3,738 and 42 touchdowns as a senior last fall.
