Chamberlain home run sinks Rebellion in 10th

LANCASTER – Lauren Chamberlain hit a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning to send the USSSA Pride past the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 4-2, in an National Pro Fastpitch softball game Friday night at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster.

It was the fourth straight loss for the Rebellion and ninth in the last 11.

The game was tied, 2-2, heading to the 10th inning, which triggered the International Tiebreaker rule. Andrea Duran started the inning at second base and, two outs later, Chamberlain launched her home run.

The Rebellion put runners on second and third with one out in the bottom of the 10th but Pride pitcher Jordan Taylor struck out Haruna Sakamota and got Cheyenne Cordes to foul out to the shortstop.

Emma Johnson gave up two runs in seven innings before being relieved by Emily Weiman. Haylie Wagner, who gave up the home run, took the loss.

Pride starter Cat Osterman allowed two runs, one earned, in seven innings and struck out 10. Osterman pitched two innings in Thursday night’s extra-inning game.

The Pride took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning when Duran led off with a home run. Shelby Pendley walked and moved to third on a single by GiOnne Disalvatore. Pendley came home on a sacrifice fly by Megan Willis.

The Rebellion scored in the bottom of the inning with the benefit of a hit.

Mandy Ogle opened the inning with a walk and moved to third when Lauren Chamberlain made on error on Kristyn Sandberg’s ground ball.

Courtney Senas drove in Ogle with a sacrifice fly.

Sandberg tied the game in the fourth inning when she hit a solo home run, her first of the season.
