PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh’s annual Blue-Gold spring scrimmage is back.

First-year head coach Pat Narduzzi announced Monday the Panthers will play their annual spring scrimmage on April 18 at Highmark Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League. Heinz Field, where Panthers play their home games, is currently undergoing renovations.

Pitt declined to play a spring game last year under former coach Paul Chryst. The event has bounced around to several local high schools in recent years.

Narduzzi said it was important for Pitt to keep the game “in the city.” The Panthers, coming off a 6-7 season, begin spring drills on Sunday, March 15.
