High school softball roundup: Burgettstown clips past Carlynton

Caley Ritts went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs to lead Burgettstown past Carlynton 5-3 Monday in a Section 1-AA game.
Kate Tarr struck out nine and did not walk a batter for the Blue Devils (0-1, 0-1). She also drove in a run with a single.
Losing pitcher Jordan Melko had 11 strikeouts and a double for Carlynton (0-1, 0-1). Sarah Frichman hit a solo home run.
• In another slugfest, Canon-McMillan got past Bethel Park, 12-10, in a Section 4-AAAA game.
It was the third time in two seasons the two teams have combined for 20 or more runs. Last year, C-M beat Bethel Park 12-10 and dropped an 11-9 decision.
Brittney Crawford hit two home runs and drove in five runs for the Big Macs (2-0, 4-0). Kristen Rush went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two RBI and Kayla Hopkins went 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Rachel Albert had a double and solo home run for Bethel Park (0-1, 1-3). Haley Reid had a home run and two RBI. Morgan Crawford doubled twice.
• Madison renner had a bases-loaded triple to help West Greene to a 15-0, three-inning victory over Fort Cherry ina Section 1-A game.
Hannah Reed drove in two runs for the Pioneers (1-0, 3-1). Bailey Bennington struck out seven, walked one and did not allow a hit.
Fort Cherry fell to 0-1 and 0-1.
• Laura Walker went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI to pace Carmichaels to a 7-1 win over Brownsville in Section 2-AA.
Erica Burns struck out 10, didn’t walka batter and hit two triples for the Mikes (1-0, 1-2). Caroline Cree went 2-for-4 and stole three bases, including home.
• Liz Wohoar and Kylie Trusler each hit two doubles to help California to a 13-9 win over Geibel Catholic in a Section 2-A game.
Kalsey Walker went 3-for-4 with a double and Destiny Gudel had a double for Cal (1-0, 1-3).
Karly Judy had a triple and Carley Ward a double for Geibel (0-1, 0-2).
•McKeesport scored 11 runs in the third inning and ran away with a 18-0 victory over Ringgold in a Section 3-AAA game.
The Tigers (1-1, 1-2) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings before enforcing the mercy rule with 11 runs in the third. Dominique Clark had a double and a three-run home run for McKeesport. Ringgold (0-1, 0-2) had three hits and committed six errors.
