Softball: Cal sweeps Edinboro

No. 22-ranked California swept a PSAC West Division doubleheader Monday from visiting Edinboro 9-0 in six innings and 11-2 in five innings.

Alex Sagl threw a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the opener and Lindsay Reicoff drove in five runs in the opener. The Vulcans hit five home runs in the second game, including two by Reicoff, who drove in eight runs on the day.

Reicoff and Shelby Heyd each hit a home run and double in the opener to pace Cal (5-1, 11-5). Reicoff, Jacquelyn Fowler, Emily Price and Becca Reinhart each homered in the second game. Sagl entered the second game in relief and was the winning pitcher in each game.

Courtney Korpus, a senior outfielder from Bentworth, hit her first career home run in the third inning of the nightcap as the Fighting Scots forged an early 2-1 lead.

Edinboro is 0-4 in the division and 8-6 overall.
