The Wild Things have signed a pitcher with Class AA experience.

Washington signed left-hander Kevin Brandt (6-1, 195), a former East Carolina pitcher who played three seasons in the Tampa Bay Rays’ minor-league system and advanced to Class AA last summer.

Brandt’s best season was 2013, when he was 8-3 with a 2.37 ERA and 71 strikeouts over 83 1/3 innings with three Class A teams. Last year, Brandt spent much of the season with Charlotte of the Class A Florida State League but made six appearances for the Montgomery Biscuits of the Class AA Southern League.

Brandt, a native of Raleigh, N.C., was drafted in the 18th round by Tampa Bay in 2012.
