Softball: West Greene’s Renner nearly perfect

Madison Renner tossed a seven-inning no hitter in West Greene’s 7-0 non-section win over Hundred.
Renner struck out 18 and lost her perfect game when she walked the leadoff batter in the top of the seventh inning.
Bailey Bennington had a double and triple and scored twice for the Pioneers (4-1). Renner went 4-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.
Hundred fell to 2-2.
• Waynesburg scored runs on a bases-loaded walk and a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh inning to win a pitcher’s duel, 4-2, against Charleroi in a Section 2-AA game Tuesday.
Taylor Staley allowed just two first-inning runs on five hits for the Raiders (2-0, 2-0).
Jen Tighlman was nearly as good for Charleroi (1-1, 3-2), also allowing five hits with nine strikeouts, but walking five. Kaitlyn McCann had a double for the Cougars.
• Erica Burns had a five-inning one-hitter with 11 strikeouts, as Carmichaels defeated Washington, 10-0, in a Section 2-AA game.
Burns also had a double and four RBI, while Caroline Cree and Natalie McNett both tripled for the Mikes (2-0, 2-2).
Leah Pattison broke up the no-hitter with a one-out single in the top of the fifth inning for the Prexies (0-3, 0-3). Taylor Ellis took the loss.
• Maddie Ludrosky struck out eight and did not allow a hit in Jefferson-Morgan’s 23-0 win over Fort Cherry in a three-inning Section 1-A game.
Reagan Rush and Morgan Simkovic each had a double for the Rockets (2-0, 4-1), who took advantage of 15 walks.
Fort Cherry is 0-2 and 0-2.
• Alyssa Cairns had a triple, home run and three RBI to lead West Mifflin to an 11-1 win over Ringgold in a Section 3-AAA game that lasted six inning.
Lauren Gohacki drove in the run for the Rams (0-2, 0-3) with a single.
• Bri Bunner and Kylee Wisilosky each hit a home run to help send Southmoreland to a 14-0 win over California in a non secton game.
California fell to 1-4.
